“Synesthesia”
He smiles at me across the room
Blue eyes glinting
Knowing secrets
He does
Padding feet on the floor
I’ve known this before
The curl of a lip
Thrusting hip
Arms crossed
Legs tangled
There’s a war under my skin
Bubbling and peaking
Lightning flashes through you
Smelling of apples and freedom
Fresh blood and fine linen
Sweat
Salt
Satin
Sweet
Nothing tastes better
Than your laughter in my mouth
Like sugar
Taken to a time, a place
Brushing ankles and touching smiles
Where everything is surreal
Black curls and messy kisses
Where no one exists
Ghosting hands
Nothing exists
Hushed whispers
Except
Your eyes on mine
The Red
Arching backs
The White
Curling toes
The Black
Teeth sink
I stroke your matted hair
My ears are ringing
Can you hear it?
