I saw you near the carrom board

A memory I’ve since had to hoard

You ate your lunch hastily

As my eyes feasted on you merrily

At the assembly you were so cute

That every other soul had gone mute

Nothing existed but you and me

You were my everything, my perpetual glee

The day went by in an unremarkable blur

Every lecture of every teacher came out in a slur

I waited eagerly to see you again

The hands of the clock- they gave me such pain!

And finally my wait was over

I ran down like a maniac rover

You appeared like a beautiful dream

In my bland life a bowl full of chocolate and cream

Your spotless, neat, ironed uniform

Stirred in me quite a lascivious storm

I had fallen for everything about you

Your bag, your badge, your umbrella-yes, that too

You spent a while speaking to friends

To skip a beat at the memory my heart still tends

And then you were gone out the giant gates

More anguish, more wait, more tachycardiac heart rates

The next day you would come back

Your way into my heart you would further hack

You’d be back the next day and the next

Your name was famous in my school books- reference or text

An eternity has elapsed since then

Could it be twenty years, fifteen or ten?

You made life magical with everything you had

In your memories my life remains clad.
