Scene Five
-Its only been 2 weeks since the incident and Aurora is even more reckless. School has been dreadful for her as well. She’s been turning in late assignments, been late for her classes a few times, and phone calls were made home by her teachers of their concern. Aiden had even noticed her distress and tried to comfort her as best as he could and had asked her on many occasions to tell him what’s troubling her but the least he got was, “I’m fine.”-
-Aiden and Aurora are in his house talking-
Aiden: What’s happen to you?
Aurora: weary smiles I’m fine. I’ve just been stressed lately about school and finals exams lately.
Aiden: thinks for a moment Aurora finals were 3 weeks ago. You’re not making any sense. Tell me! I know there is something wrong!
Aurora: breaks down. I can’t!
Aiden: Why not?
Aurora: Because there’s nothing to tell! It was my entire fault and now I’m paying the price, so back off.
Aiden: Aurora please, I’m here for you. There’s nothing that you could’ve done that can make me not understand.
Aurora: swallows hard as she chokes on her tears then slowly reaches into her pocket and takes out her sharp friend and carefully hands it to him. She sniffles.
Aiden: You. . . what’s this?
Aurora: It’s exactly what it looks like. Then suddenly shaking, she holds out her arms for him to see.
Aiden: he gasps as his eyes widen in disbelief. He couldn’t find the words. Tears rolled down his face. Why would you do this?! In anger. What has happened to you to make you do this?
Aurora: Is it that hard to get?! I’m a cutter Aiden. I cut! Cries harder.
Aiden: You aren’t a cutter Aurora. Why do you do it?! Tell me why. Tries to calm down.
Aurora: Because I’m the one who caused all of the problems in my home. I’m the reason why my family isn’t perfect.
Aiden: Then whose family is?
Aurora: I just wanted us all to be happy. . .
Aiden: Aurora, what happened?
Aurora: He happened. Silently.
Aiden: What? Who? Joe?
Aurora: nod. He . . . He . . . chokes on her tears.
Aiden: holds her in his arms. Its okay, its okay. What did he do?
Aurora: explodes. HE RAPED ME!!! Cries much harder. He raped me, he raped me, and he raped me! And it’s my entire fault!
Aiden: speechless. I’m so sorry.
Aurora: I tried to trust him. I wanted to start over. Sobs.
Aiden: hugs her tightly. I know, I know. He’s not going to hurt you again. Clenches his jaw. I’ll make sure of it. He promised as he kissed her forehead.
Aurora: Don’t let go of me. I don’t want to go back.
Aiden: And you don’t have to, you’re always welcomed here. But you have to report this to the police and get checked out.
Aurora: I’m scared. What if he finds out I told?
Aiden: I’ll protect you. Promise me you won’t cut.
Aurora: sniffles. Okay. I promise.
Aiden: I love you. Tilts her head up and kisses her.
Aurora: Looks into his chocolate-y, desirable brown eyes and sees that what he’s saying is true. I love you too. Rests her head on his chest.
Later on that evening . . .
Aurora is taking a shower. As she rinses off, she holds out her arms and stares at them. Flash backs make their way back in her mind. She closes her eyes shut as she tries to forget. Her emotional distress is exhausting. Its get even more harder to forget now that she reaps the scars she’s engraved in her flesh. Her minds starts to bleak, she looses consciousness and falls on the shower flour. The cold water becomes sharper and beats her. Then there’s a knocking on the door.
Aiden: Aurora, is everything okay?
Aurora: no answer.
Aiden: Aurora! Barges into the bathroom and sees Aurora in the tub with the water running all over her trembling, naked body. Aurora are you okay? Helps her out the tub. I got you, it’s okay.
Aurora: I’m sorry Aiden, I just. . .
Aiden: Ssshh, it’s okay. Hushes her.
Aurora: Okay.
Aiden carries her in his arms and sets her down gently on his bed. Then he goes back to his bathroom and gets a towelfrom the closet and heads back to the room.
Aiden: Sits next to her and starts to dry her off and resists letting his eyes roam her body. Don’t worry. I’m just trying to help.
Aurora: I know. Suddenly feels a little embarrassed.
Aiden: finishes drying her, then lotions her.
Aurora: I don’t have any change of clothes.
Aiden: That’s alright. Goes into his drawer and takes out a pair of fresh boxers and a t-shirt.
Aurora: smiles at his suggestion. How comfy.
Aiden: smiles back at her. Good to know.
Aurora: Thank you. Crawls all the way into bed and gets under the covers.
Aiden: sighs of relief that she’s happy. Your welcome. Turns out the light and then gets in with her and faces her. The moonlight shines down on them. Goodnight.
Aurora: smiles and softly says, Goodnight, Aiden. I love you.
Aiden: I love you too. Moves the strand of hair out of her face.
Aurora: gets closer to him until the distant between their lips is no more. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
Aiden: brings her in much closer and tightly holds her. Their endless kisses set the sparks for the perfect fire. And you are to me.
And with that Aurora falls asleep in his arms with pleasant dreams.
The next day in the afternoon . . .
Aurora is in the living room watching cartoons with Aiden, then her cell phone rings.
Aurora: answers it. Hello?
Diana: Honey, where are you?
Aurora: I’m at Aiden’s house.
Diana: Come home now.
Aurora: Later.
Diana: No, now.
Aurora: Mom, please. I’ll be home later.
Diana: sighs. Okay, make sure of it.
The call ends.
Aiden: Why did she want you to come home?
Aurora: I don’t know. Maybe she thought that I was ‘horsing around’ with you.
Aiden: laughs. Wow.
Aurora: But, um. . . I think I’m going to tell her what happened.
Aiden: Do you think you’re ready? Are you sure?
Aurora: Yeah. It’s eating me alive and I can’t take it.
Aiden: Okay. Do you want me to be there?
Aurora: No, I can handle this.
Aiden: I don’t know Aurora. . .
Aurora: I am a little scared though. But I’ll call you to let you know.
Aiden: Alright. Puts his arm around her. Whatever you say.
They both start laughing at the cartoon.
