“What are you thinking?”

She always asks this

And gets the same answer.

“Just a quiet, happy smile.”

She never likes that answer

Which leads to the kisses

And the touches

And the scratches

And the frantic stripping

“Don’t say, ‘I love you’.

Don’t say, ‘I love you’.

Don’t say, ‘I love you’.”

What they are really thinking.

“What are you thinking?”

She asks lying naked in their arms

And gets the same answer.

“Just a quiet, happy smile.”
