A A A

I wake up in the morning.

Before my feet can hit the floor,

A monkey throws a grapefruit,

Through my shattered door.

I open up my school book.

Clear the static from my head.

Push away the ashtray.

Put my banana in the shed.

It's all about the zoo,

And the games these animals play.

Protect yourself with wisdom,

Before the animals strip your soul away.

The world is filled with misfits,

Complete from A to Z.

Confusing me with echoes,

To try and take my sanity.

I know I run the risk each day,

Of falling helpless to their scheme.

Looking for the antidote,

Before they rape my poisoned dream.

It's all about the zoo,

And the games these animals play.

Arm yourself with righteousness,

Before they steal your pride away.

Stepping off the front porch,

Use my hand to block the sun.

Watching for the snakes that crawl,

They'll trip you just for fun.

Piranha in the fountain,

As I hustle through the park.

The water smells like gasoline,

As a gorilla lights a spark.

It's all about the zoo,

And the games these animals play.

Don't listen to the mocking birds,

Or they'll lead your mind astray.

Running past the schoolyard,

That cheetah's pretty fast.

I run right past the slackers,

He will always eat the last.

To make it to my home each day,

The place I want to find.

I have to make it through the zoo,

And keep my piece of mind.

It's all about the zoo,

And the games these animals play.

Don't let the animals touch you,

Or in the zoo you'll have to stay.
