Even gold dulls with age
Like brush blowing in the wind
Pale and muted sage
Aware, however…dim

Once brilliant, a-shine with glow
Lights fade into twilight
The me…I used to know
Gloomy, no longer bright

Awash, time takes its toll
Tired, weathered from time
Growth stunted, no longer flows
The once true love of mine

Years, yellowed and aged
A lingering scent of mold
Regret, sorrow, angst
How could I have grown so old?

Missing life spontaneous
Fleeting moments that excite
Nae youth…glorious
Dreams have taken flight

Gone are the days
Of expectation and hope
Anticipation grays
On life’s slippery slope
