Last of summer fades

as life's reflections jade

upon the river of the west

where the cascades are neatly cleft.

And we as humans see

the grim reality

of harvests in the plain

that stretch from sea to peak

and as sun does surely wane

we discover what we seek.

It's world enough to know

that as the days shorter grow

our fears are shuttered by the years

of forgotten tears

shed before our youth is past

and sun's orbit measures last

the days that we together spend

and the poems that we render send

to the universal chasm

in a delightlful spasm

of agony and joy...

ah 'tis life no mere toy...

we chase in this reflection

of life's personal affection.
