Broken dreams are scattered like leaves
On a carpet of woven lies
In shattered times I collect my thoughts
Shall I spin the wheel or roll the dice.

And how shall I forget you
Forget all that I gave in vain
The rain may hide the falling tears
But it can’t wash away the growing pain.

The pain grows stronger deep inside
Like the hidden heat of sin
The anger burns behind my eyes
But in the mirror they only grow dim.

The heart can hold much misery
Like a dam can hold the tide
Stronger men have fallen here
And many weaker men have cried.

My outstretched hand ignored by you
Begs for the touch of love
I thought I gave all that I could
While you took far more than enough.

And how shall I forget you
Forget all that I gave in vain
The rain may hide the falling tears
But it can’t wash away the growing pain.

Broken dreams are scattered like leaves
On a carpet of woven lies
In shattered times I collect my thoughts
To spin the wheel
To roll the dice.
