One week

It’s been one whole week, since the first tear rolled down my cheek

Just when we had though that our love had reached its peak

It comes crashing down; now the future for us looks very bleak

Because, to each other we don’t even speak

Does my heart beat? It’s so very weak

It’s been one whole week, since love took its last breath of air

Our love has got no hope of repair

Because look at me you don’t even dare

Please won’t you stop and stare

At the hole in my heart that you put there?

Why can’t you see

What you’re doing to me?

You’ve taken my life

And cut it like a knife

You’ve ripped out my heart

And torn it all apart

When will this wound heal over?

It’s been one whole week, since I last smiled

Our love was once so free and wild

Now it’s like a tortured child

I’d give anything just to hold you a while

From a world of love and care I’ve been exiled

It’s been one whole week, since the fire lost its heat

You’ve left me out in the cold with nothing to eat

No need to try and love again, no need to repeat

I keep hoping that soon we will meet

But then my heart stops. There’s no reason for it to beat
