J.D. Martinez had three RBIs yesterday.

The Toronto Blue Jays were close, but were unable to get the win yesterday as the Boston Red Sox walked away with the 5-3 victory and the weekend series.

J.D. Martinez was a thorn in the Blue Jay's side, hitting a two run homer at the top of the first inning.

Martinez went two for four at the plate yesterday and collected three RBIs.

At the top of the third inning, the Jays went down 3-0, giving up a bases loaded walk.

Two innings later, Martinez drove in Mookie Betts with a RBI single.

The Jays finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Justin Smoak drove in Teoscar and Josh Donaldson with a double.

Later in the inning, Russell Martin close the gap to 4-3, driving in Smoak with a single.

Unfortunately, Andrew Benintendi scored Boston's fifth run at the top of eighth inning.

Smoak went 1 for 3 at the plate and collected two RBIs yesterday.

Both pitchers had poor performances on the mound yesterday.

Boston's starting pitcher, Drew Pomeranz, pitched just four innings, giving up five hits, three earned runs, five walks, and struck out six batters.

Jay's starter, Joe Biagini gave up four hits, four earned runs, three walks, and struck out just three batters in 4.2 innings pitched.

Toronto heads off to New York to face the Mets tomorrow.
