No hat-trick, but Van Riemsdyk did score two last night.


After scoring three the other night against the Dallas Stars, James Van Riemdyk, (JVR.), did it again for the Toronto Maple Leafs last night, scoring the first two goals of the game in a 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

That's five goals within two nights for JVR.

Down 2-0, Sam Reinhart scored on the power play at 14:39 of the first period.

Toronto continued to score in the second period.

The Leafs went up 4-1 with goals by Connor Carrick and Tyler Bozak.

With just 59 seconds to go in the second period, Jason Pominville close the gap at 4-2.

With just 43 seconds to go in the third period, Patrick Marleau scored an empty netter and put the game on ice.

Van Riemsdyk finished the night with three points.

Sabre's Evan Rodrigues had two assists.

Leaf's goalie, Curtis McElhinney, stopped 38 shots.

Buffalo's goalie, Robin Lehner, stopped 34 shots last night.

Toronto hosts the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow night.
