My first and (currently) only narrative. I understand it could use some improvement in wording and whatnot, but I like it. =D

And I have no clue how I wrote anything remotely romantic, but somehow I managed. >.>

Death, he leaped from the shadows
a face of morbid glee
"Either you or him" he said,
mischief crept into his eyes,
"Shall return to the depths with me"

my choice, twas ever clear to me
tho encountered an eerie thought
could it be that Death's cruel grin showed,
mocking glare now shown above,
knew something I did not?

the decision I thought over
though the noble choice was clear
had I the heart to do that which,
being selfish as I was,
so many men did fear?

what choice was right and selfless
to give my life for him
tho part my fear was death itself,
Most of what he'd do alone,
o the pain, how grim

yet surely not I'd be so cruel
to cast him into death
I could not live with such a choice,
such anguish I would surely hold,
and weep-with every breath

Hell on earth or Hell below
how horrid must one choose
standing here with naught to gain,
one foot firmly in the grave,
and everything to lose

he then looked into my eyes
a reassuring stare
not a place a Hell could be,
in his loving glance I saw,
If we, together, tarried there

We hand in hand stepped forward
Death's glance a look of loathe
for what He knew I'd not before
yet knew not then how joyfully
but he would have us both
