A widow: does she sit at home in self pitty or go out and live? It's a short little poem, but sometimes short is nice.

A high-collered lady,

lonely and stately,

Sits by the window at night.

She looks to the sky,

begins to cry,

And lets her bereft heart take flight.

Her husband is dead,

and the stars overhead,

Remind her of her widowed state.

Though, there's a party tonight,

she's seen the light,

She'll arrive fashionably late.
