Should we part,
My lovely foe,
I fear my soul
Would be first to go.
My body next,
Yes, that sounds right,
An empty carcass,
A miserable sight.

I should miss you, my love,
A beautiful thing,
Your hands like an angel’s
Your words your wings,
I should fear, my love,
The life beyond,
And that my soul should not
Be missed when it’s gone.

I should take my breath,
Should you be taken,
Your beautiful soul,
My soul forsaken.
I should cry and weep
No more on Earth,
For my life is less than your love is worth.

These wounds are deep,
And lest they heal,
I should have scars forever,
My fate shall be sealed.

A life without you,
Is an abhorred thought,
My sullen mind
Would surely rot.
My dear Ezra,
My sweetest foe,
Won’t you kiss me once
Before you go?
