Interests
What Interests me is only yesterday
The miracle of the past looking forward to its children to say
That you must swing your arms wildly, hitting those who go and pray
To God for peace and love and providence and profit and protection and understanding
Then they go home and simply stay
What happened to motivation?
Did assassination get its call?
What happened to the sensation?
Of sensations sake breaking them all
As I breathe the fumes of those who don’t try
And bear witness to those who walk by the meek
The starving
The oppressors
And realize religion has been twisted to fit those who make the position
And bar off the weak
God only answers those who listen as my pastor went and said
Instead the deaf rule the world while he kicks the body of a message dead.
I am not hungry for redemption
A sick and ugly word
Because that means someone is condemning me
For freedom, for liberty, for majestic style, for overlapping grace, for understanding what it is I see
These things I do not possess
How can you say talent is talent when the talented do not listen to their’ praise?
Instead they crave
For more power
and wealth
That there fat outlooks have brought
When praise comes, do not reel for seconds
Seconds only cloud the vision of those who do not wish to be seen
While those who hunger to be heard block out the noise
Here me
HERE ME
I speak!
That is their’ answer to every question ever posed
The questions they have hosed
Down
Until the bone shows
Underneath the skin of reality
As serpents become saints, as Robbers become Heroes, as murders becomes exceptable
As ones become zeroes
I think not about this future
So I curl up in the past
An identity forgotten
One that simply will not last
I catch the teardrops in my bottle
As history gets stuck in time
While the lamb lays with the lion, while the plant devours the cattle, while cities go to sea
That’s what interests me
