 The Sunday after next
Gone is the soft-spoken message
Of righteousness
The prophets all took their humble time
In making their escape
The Angels all realized the lost cause
And they went home to their families
The scholars all laughed at the ideals of salvation
As salvation bows quietly out the back door
The quire sings show tunes as worship songs
Become monotonous
And God leans back in his easy chair
To catch his evening show
The father removes his collar and sets down his bible
Recounting better days
As he lets quiet enter his church
And all the while people ask
Where is righteousness?
Righteousness left town days ago, looking for a better place to preach
Righteousness saw the masses, got scared and choked on stage, then ran off with scarlet cheeks
Righteousness called in sick
Righteousness got tired of the pressure and let himself fall off the edge
Righteousness got nailed to a cross, bled to death and waited in his cave
Instead of resurrecting cause he was scared of what his reception would be
Righteousness locked himself in his house, to never be felt again
