Truth is a sharply bladed knife
That’s so shiny it reflects the horrors of life
Truth is a gun that you don’t fondle for fun
Cuz it shoots down every lie concocted under the sun
Truth is a fire that burns and cleanses
All the garbage and filth of all offenses
Truth is also a book
That so many conveniently overlook
Truth is when people won’t kiss up to you
Because you’re wrong and too blind to get the clue
Truth is when your life tastes like vinegar most of the time
And when you’re actually honest enough to act like nothing is fine
Truth is when living gives you cuts and bruises and you sweat and bleed
Because of someone else’s big ego and corporate or individual greed
While still remembering that God rewards the faithful in the end
Those who loved him and didn’t pretend
