Just a funny story with zombies...the title is a wink at The Living Dead lol!

There were several zombies partying on

Do-Well Park and Preserve. They drank only the finest fermented fluids- bile and blood, and ate only the most decadent Grim cuisine, being the fad diet was all the rage for health conscious zombies. It was a silly thought that they'd like something like human brains- that was cannibalism and just as taboo as it'd be for you and I.

No, they slurped steaming bowls of pig brain noodles, stuffed themselves with winter rolls, gorged on salty eel eyes, popped wasps on toothpicks, a stinging finger food.

Zombies had a pungent sense of smell and their dedication to cooking foods showed this.

So engrossed are they in the dining, they don't notice the harsh shuffle through the woods, until a man falls forward into the party, halting all festivities.

He reeks of blood and looks a terror. A man, a living man! Failed to have turned and reeking of it too! The offensive pheromones of the living and their unturned bodies made them kin to walking spirits of the past. Why had he not died and come back?

Silence hangs heavy as the zombies stare, some pig brains slosh back into bowls from gaping mouths. The man raises a hand, thrown to the ground, he begs for help.

But the zombies all scatter into the night with screams of terror. They tell authorities about the incidence but no one believes them. Living People were superstitious- and disgusting- figments of the past.

Lol for some reason this makes me think of my old math teacher's favorite movie, I don't know what it was but her summary of it was: "Picture 'Pride and Prejudice,' but WITH ZOMBIES! Gore for the literary snob!"
I quite like the idea of cultured zombies- of course they wouldn't eat human brains, that's obviously cannibalism! Such misfortune to have encountered a stinky living person- especially since they're supposed to be myth! XD
This was so much fun- well done!

Gore for the literary slob lol! I have yet to read the novel by the same name.
Yes, cannibalism is a no no in every civilized culture, duh! lol! And I know- this stink bomb totally trashed their get together. (And all he wanted was some help, poor thing). Glad you enjoyed! Happy writing. :)

A fun piece! It's interesting to think if we'll ever become mythical beings or an endangered breed. I doubt zombies would take our place, but you never know. ;)

Who's to know! XD
Though, obviously the zombies weren't too thrilled to have the living human tainting their party lol.

Ha, an interesting alternative zombie story, which I found really entertaining. A unique and clever POV. Great job!

Thank you, Sue! I don't think it too much a stretch for zombies to be afraid of people, as they can be viewed as strange, unevolved, and mysterious. Thanks for taking the time to read. :)

A perfect alternative zombie flash, Stars. Loved the image of the fleeing from the monstrous 'live man'.
