Inspired, of all things, by my car breaking down. I was just fed up with responsibility and feeling unprepared to face adult life.

The demons have risen
inside of my heart,
my thoughts they have blackened;
can't stop what they start.

Frustration abounds
in the depths of my soul,
I feel such deep anger
I cannot control.

After too many years
in a world safe and sound,
my head's in the clouds, and
my feet don't touch ground.

I'm so unprepared,
my legs are unsteady.
To become an adult
I don't quite feel ready.

It seems so unfair,
and I don't understand
why my feet are knocked out
when I get the nerve to stand.
