I work, work, work
and toil all day,
but when I get home
there's no time to play.

The house must be cleaned
so it's time to do chores.
Dishes, dust and laundry:
I will always have more.

I wish I could go back
to the way things used to be,
when Mom and Dad did everything
and all my time was free.

Schooltime and homework
would sure not be such pains.
I'd do it all with a great big smile,
and never once complain.

I'd make believe and have fun with friends,
do nothing but play all day:
it sure is easy to relax
when Mom has the bills to pay!

So, my dear ones, don't you fret
about wanting to grow up fast.
Trust one who knows: the joy of
being an adult doesn't last!
