A strong arm drapped over my shoulders, mine wrapped around his waist. My boyfriend, Adam, and I were talking alongthe beach, warm water lapping around our feet. The sun was still high in the sky, and showing us with warm, glowing rays. This felt perfect. I was loving every second of this.

I knew I wouldn't have much longer with him. He was going off to war in Afghanistan. I didn't want him to go, fearing that he may never return, but Adam was persitant. He wanted to help people who couldn't help themselves.

"Jullie? What's wrong sweetheart?" Adam asked, turning to look at me.

"I was just... thinking." I replied.

"About what?"

"Nothing much. Just how much I am going to miss you."

Adam smiled at me.

"Come on, let's go wading." I suggested, pulling off my beach shirt, revealing my light blue bikini.

"Lead the way." he said, following my lead, and dropping his shirt next to mine on the sand.

I ran ahead of him in the water. It splashed warm welcoming around my feet. I stoped about waist deep in the water, waiting for the sand around my feet to settle. Once it had, I could see the ocean floor through the crystal clear water. It was full of life; crabs, little fish, seaweed, and even a few jellyfish. I was so awe-struck by this, I didn't notice Adam sneaking up behind me until it was too late. He wrapped his arms around my waist, and pulled me out a little deeper.

"Adam. Couldn't you see I was looking at something?" I asked in mock frustration.

"Yes, but, I figured that since I leave in three days, we should make the most of it."

I giggled, and stared into his eyes. All around me there were sounds, but i couldn't hear them. The waves lapping on the shore, kids running on the shore, people talking on the pier, and a motorboat.

I leaned in slowly as Adam did the same. Our lips were almost touching, when the motoboat went whizzing past us, and we pulled away from eachother as we were thrown underwater by the massive wave. I clawed at the water, pushing my way back up.

My head broke the surface, and I spat out the mouthful of seawater I had accidentally almost swallowed.

"You alright, Jullie?" Adam asked me.

"Just fine." I said, brushing the saltwater out of my eyes.

"Race you back to shore." he said a split-second before he dove underwater.

I chuckled at swam after him, willing my body to move faster. He beat me to shore by about a foot.

"Haha! I win you loose!" Adam crowed in delight.

I shot him a mock death glare, but couldn't hold it for more than 5 second before i burst out laughing.

"Oh, I love you, Adam." I smied widely.

"I love you too Jullie." Adam said, witha small smile.

"What's wrong?" I asked, feeling the smile fading.

Adam's eyes clouded over. "Nothing" he said, the smile totally gone.

"Are you sure?"

"YES! Now, just stop Jullie. I already told you nothing is wrong. Drop it!" he yelled angrily.

"Alright." I pulled away from him.Turning my back on him, I walked a few steps away before speaking, my back still to him. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow at the airport then."

"Meet me at 2pm by the fountain in the lobby."

"Alright." I said, pulling my shirt back over my head, leaving him standing there.

I walked into the airport at quarter to two. I reached down and self-consiously smoothed a non-existant wrinkle on my navy blue and white striped strapless dress. Fixing my long, straight dirty blonde hair, I pushed through the doors and looked around for Adam.

There were several guys milling around with their families and girlfriends.

Looking around, I saw a couple kissing by the fountain. The guy was wearing an army suit.Awww, I thought, Isn't that sweet?

Taking a closer look, I noticed the girl was wearing very skimpy, distressed, short shorts, and a white tank top that barely covered her. The guy she was kissing had his fingers intertwined in her long black hair.

I realized I was still heading towards the couple. Oh well, I needed to meet Adam by the fountain in 10 minutes, anyways.

The couple broke apart, and smiled, looking lovingly in the other's eyes.

I froze, standing just a few feet away from them. My eyes widened in shock and my mouth fell open. I knew who the guy was. Except, it was just ay guy, it was Adam.

"Adam?" I managed to choke out, my throat closing up and my eyes filling with tears.

"Jullie?" he asked, noticing me for the first time.

"What's going on?" I asked, a droplet of water spilling out onto my cheek.

"Jullie... I..." his voice trailed off, and he looked down guiltily at the floor.

I just stood there, my feet rooted to the floor.

"Jullie... just listen to me." Adam started speaking.

"Don't bother." I said frostily, brushing a few tears off my cheeks. I spun on my heels, starting to walk away when I felt a strong hand grip my arm.

"Jullie, wait. Just listen to me." Adam asked desperately.

"Why should I?" I questioned him, furiously wrenching my arm from his grasp.

"Because... I.... I.... I made a mistake Jullie." he said weakly, his eyes full of sorrow and regret.

"Sure you did. I bet you just finished telling that... that girl that I was a mistake and you actually love her, not me!" I screamed.

People were staring at us, but I didn't care. I couldn't let him know I was fine with him cheating on me.

"I love you, Adam. I told you that just yesterday! Why, Adam? Why?" my voice had died down to a bare whisper.

"Listen to me, Jullie. I am sorry."

"Psh... ya right."

"How can I tell you? How can I make you understand?" Adam was clearly wracking his brain, trying to find a way to explain. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he smiled.

Quickly, before I could back away, he stepped foreward and closed the gap between us, kissing me for all he was worth. I just stood there, staring at him, my anger burning. After a minute he broke away.

I didn't care in the slightest if he kissed me. He had kissed another girl just minutes before.

I acted quickly. Adam was just standing there with a little lost puppy look on his face.

I balled my right hand into a tight fist, and swung it at his head. It hit him in the side of the face with a sickening thud. He went reeling, tripped over something, and when sprawling across the floor.

"Bye Adam." I said, smiling slightly to myself.

Turning, I headed back to my car, my hand throbbing. I didn't care, though. I just wished that he hadn't been cheating on me.

Oh well. Nothing I could do about it. I sighed to myself. I was going to miss him. What I said to him was true. I did love him. Heck, I still love him. Breakig up with him wasn't going to make me worry less about him.

I laid my head down on the steering wheel, careful not the honk the horn. I began crying, the sobs shaking my body, tears pouring down my face.

"I love you Adam." I whimpered pathetically into the leather of the steering wheel. "I love you."
