I wish that I believed in God,

Because I could use his help.

Only with love as pure as his,

Could I start to love myself.

How insignificant I feel,

And my achievements worthless.

And only true belief in God,

Could give my life a purpose.

If only I believed my trials,

Were just God intervening.

His way of testing my resolve;

Then my suffering would have meaning.

How reassuring to believe,

That God was on my side.

Because I need one of those miracles,

That only God provides.

How I wish that I could give my life,

To this God I don’t believe in.

Because no other force on his green Earth,

Can grant my spirit freedom.
