Friendship

Finding a friend was like playing Hide-n-Go Seek in the dark.
Without a flashlight, the moon light, or even a spark.
Alone in the dark I would search and try to find.
Someone to tolerate me or someone of my kind.
Then one day I found someone who seemed to be true blue.
But as time went on the real her came out conceited, snotty, and rude.
Two years went by and then suddenly her friendship vanished like a ghost.
But not before she turned my self-confidence, and self-worth into toast.
Tears of a broken friendship I cried night and day.
Thinking I had broken it and so I had to pay.
In all the emotional pain she caused me.
I was thinking if I had tried harder this just wouldn’t be.
Alone and hurt I sat in the dark; the tears of betrayal blurred my sight.
I couldn’t see what lied just ahead, which was a very dim light.
As it got closer it also got brighter.
But the defenses around my heart only got tighter.
When I looked up, there you stood and empathy in your eyes I found.
Tears of joy rolled down your cheeks as you lowered yourself to the ground.
As you sat beside me your love dried my tears
And I could see then that you could help me with my fears.
Which were never being able to find a true friend.
And that my suffering would never come to an end.
Then you stood up and stretched out your hand.
I grasped it tight and you helped me to stand.
Yes you were the friend for whom I searched high and low.
And I knew in my heart you wouldn’t just pack up and go.
Side by side we walked through the dark; the light of our friendship led the way.
I found so much joy and happiness with a friend like you, like this forever I want to stay.

Wow, this poem is really beautiful, though reading it at the beginning made me kind of sad... =[ but that's good if you can tug at the heartstrings of people simply by writing! And then, towards the middle, and at the end, I felt happier because your friend came back for you, through your pain, and erased the pain. I liked this poem of yours, keep up the good work! =]
