I once wrote these word on the outside edges of an abstract painting I had painted.

Of light and shadow,

and secrets past.

I hold these memories,

so they last.

That is where the poem stopped, but somehow there seemed a need for something more. The words met the emotions completely, so what was left?.

LOOKING BACK.

An explanation, would you like more?

One late night I paced the floor,

walking circle around the house, I couldn't sleep.

nothing in the refrigerator even looked good to eat.

Rain fell against the window glass then trickled down,

where the street light cast the window's image upon the wall.

Shadows of rain that trickling down the glass.

Shadows of trees outside blowing in the wind seemed to dance,

and from inside, by the window there hung more plants.

The image stayes forever in my mind,

of the place where we once lived

and the time.
