It is estimated that over 35 million socks a year go missing every year in the average home wash worldwide. In order to bring worldwide awareness of  this tragic problem an organization called “Share a Sock society” or the “SASS” was set up in 2006 by the Bush administration. Its motto “Socks should not be alone but only paired” has made headlines around the world after a sock was refused the right to adopt a baby sock on the grounds that he was not a pair.

A spokesman for the “SASS” said “wherever there is a sock there is a cold foot waiting to be covered so it only seems right that unpaired socks should be allowed to adopt”. He then went onto say “we have over 35 million potential socks waiting to adopt other socks, it seems ridiculous that we have so many lonely baby socks with no homes to goto, just because of Government rules and regulations.

Ex President Bush replied to a congressional committee hearing and said “ As a man who has very often put his foot in it I will do all I can to insure the non segregated rights of a sock who just happens to be not paired is held up and allowed to be thought of as any paired sock”

The annual parade will start tomorrow in central Park and wind its way through the streets of Manhattan. All participants are reminded that this years theme is “If its not broke then why darn it” so please do not come dressed in a new pair of socks.

In closing it is hoped that all participants will sign the “SASS” petition guaranteeing the rights of single socks in respect adoption.
