The dim afterglow begins to fade
The darkness of night settling on my heart
A life time of sorrow seems at its boiling point
My sanity writhing and bubbling ...
Am I running slower or is the past catching up
My body dissolves from the centuries of abuse
I fear my mind is melting away as well
Lost moments and wasted chances
Scribbling notes on scraps of paper
Such a fragile thing that will disappear with time
Atoms decay and wither away
The circling of electrons will eventually cease
What a disturbing eventuality
I too wait to blacken and fade
Doing anything I can to fight back the inevitable
But in time just wasted moments
excersising the body and mind
Energizing the spirit or soul
Seems like something so important now
But what will it matter centuries from now
The sands of time devour the world
I'm ready to let go quit taking your time
Just stalling and waiting
Enjoying these wasted moments
