At a suggestion from a good friend, I decided to just write a poem with minimal editing. As you can tell, I'm feeling a tad blue of late. So, here goes an attempt at organic, raw, emotive poetry.

Close another door

Don’t make another sound

My heart doesn’t live here anymore

Been a while since it’s been around…

Life used to be a calliope

Love was my favourite song

Until the calliope crashed down on me

And now every tune comes out wrong

I remember when I used to be able to feel

There was a time when I was warm and soft

Now I only feel halfway real

Because I can somehow shut it off…

This face doesn’t feel like mine

The pokerface to play the game

I’m always guilty by design

But I will never be the same…

When did I lose my heart?

Somewhere along the way?

Maybe from the start?

Must have given it away…

Even to myself I can’t be true

So here I lay awake alone in bed

Wondering when the ill stops killing you,

Is that when you’re truly dead?
