“..The earth was formless and void, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the deep” Genesis 1:1-5
The first thing we see in the beginning is “God created”. The Hebrew construction there is “Elohim” Which is plural rather than singular. Then we are introduced to the Spirit as the first person of the Godhead. Many believe that God the father is great, than second in rank is God the son then the Spirit. That is not true. The Holy Spirit is a distinct person in the Godhead who is high in rank just as God the father; in fact we are told that he is the father. “And she was found with the child of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 1:18) the father of Jesus was the Holy Ghost. He is the Spirit that proceeds from the father; He comes out of the father. He brings the presence of the father who is at the throne. God can be with me now and with you also at the same time, that is because the Holy Spirit who proceeds from him is the one that brings the fullness of God to you and at the same time the same measure to me. Saints the Spirit of God is the expression of the Father. He is to be honored and hallowed just as the son and the father are. He responds to the name of Jesus, because he was sent in that name.
