We pulled up to a house in the middle of the night,

We were told a couple just had a fight.

We arrived without the siren, or even the lights,

Those could've restarted that whole fight.

The police secured the scene,

When we walked in we didn't believe what we seen.

A man was lying prone in his bed,

With a fork lodged in the back of his head.

We put him in a collar and secured him to our cot,

Elevated his head to stop a blood clot.

We raced lights and sirens to the ambulance bay,

To the emergency room where this patient will stay.

We transferred care over to the ER doc,

Then got new linens for our cot.

Cleaned and restocked our truck,

That the typical night on our emergency truck.
