The Chase
I’m fighting a losing battle, Playing a game I cannot win,
I’m falling hard and fast, And I can’t control the sin.
My fears drag me under, My dreams make me blind,
My longing is anguish, And I think he can read my mind.
Eyes shut and head down, He avoids my gaze,
Eyes averted from me, And yet I feel them stray.
Coy and sly he slips away, But I am the huntress,
Coy will not help him, And soon my hunger he will suppress.
Though I will strain, He will run faster,
Though he will struggle, and I will chase after,
In time he will give in, I will taste victory,
In time he will succumb, and I will end this misery.
