Sunk deep into a tank
Head underwater, eyes beneath the table-top counter
Fish out of water, not a dollar to my collar

All is well and All is fine
Blue is my favourite colour
Charlie is my name
Daddy is working late again

Crushed beneath his leather shoe
The toy crocodile now missing a bead for an eye
Its tail bent out of shape
Its jaw crooked and agape
Its stuffing poured out across the carpet floor

Today is the day
It is the most special day of the year

Today’s the day
The most dreaded day of the month

It is my birthday
Presents and cake to celebrate

It’s payday
They come for everything and nothing

Crushed beneath his leather shoe
Sunk deep into a tank
Imagine
Candles and Flowers for a special day
A night trip to the aquarium we both love
Those decorations for his strawberry shortcake

Placed on a heavy tombstone instead.
