Beginning to love again

I took one step and stumbled, then

 took a faltering two.

All whilst looking, staring at you.

My lifeline in the turbulent sea of my emotions,

a bridge across the great divides on my journey

 I wasn’t scared anymore.

Third time lucky.  One more step

brought me closer to my desire.

Shaky legs became steady.

The pitfalls on the road I had been

travelling for so long hurt my tired and

blistered feet.  Strange that.

 I could feel again.

I  saw the sun rise just beyond you,

and the darkness lifted from around me on

the lonely path I walked.

Daring a look behind, I rejoiced that my demons no

longer stalked me in the darkness.

In the light of  love they had gone.

I could breath again.

I was closer now than I had ever been

before.  I felt you crashing into my

frozen heart like a thunderbolt, kick starting it

into beating again.  I stopped in the middle of the road.

Had I been dead inside for so long?

How long had it been?

I looked around and I breathed, I touched my skin and felt.

Ending my journey I opened myself to life again, and went home,

With you.
