A A A

I walked right up,
Holding my cup,
And asked you what you thought was 'sup',
But you just laughed at me and walked away.

You went to him,
His chiseled chin,
And left to where the lights are dim,
'Cause I never had any words to say.

He was a fake,
A big mistake,
For all the good that it would make,
I looked down at him sitting on his cloud.

But laying there,
Touching your hair,
My life could never close compare,
I'd stand in awe and fade into the crowd.

For now just wait,
And celebrate,
Is what they always seem to say,
'Cause one day they'll all open up and see:

You're really sweet,
That can't be beat,
One day you'll make me feel complete,
But now you have nothing to offer me.

It was such a sour deal,
From which I thought I'd never heal,
So I did what people always do.

In a play of desperation,
With the greatest contemplation,
I reached right up for the sky,
But found I could not cry,
I gave up on myself.
As my arms swung in final farewell.

I gave it all for you.

I bought myself the clothes,
Forgot what I did know,
Learned what to say to you,
So you would not see through,
The lies that I would tell,
The crap that I would sell.

All for you.

I was no more,
Just made to score,
The false image you did adore,
But it's the price that I did have to pay.

For now they said,
My heart was dead,
I was a careless man instead
But you'd be by my side without delay.

I walked right up,
Holding my cup,
And asked you what you thought was 'sup',
You smiled at me and grabbed onto my arm.

You walked with me,
Where none could see,
I asked you why you did agree,
My apathy, appearance and my charm

The more we kissed,
The more I missed,
The me that you had just dismissed,
With all my empathy and love for you.

It was a sham,
A petty scam,
Forgetting all I was and am,
And now I had forsaken what was true.

Now it was such a sour deal,
From which I knew I'd never heal,
So I did what people always do.

In a play of desperation,
With the greatest contemplation,
I reached up for the sky,
But found I could not cry,
I wrapped my arms around,
In a gesture so profound.

I gave it all for you.

I bought myself the clothes,
Forgot what I did know,
Learned what to say to you,
So you would not see through,
The lies that I would tell,
The crap that I would sell.

All for you.

But now you saw right through,
The things I did for you,
And then you saw the truth.

With a loving embrace,
And the scowl on your face,
The same bitter taste.

Surrounded by your smell.

I gave you for myself.
