I Remember
I remember the day when
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated
I was a very young child
but I remember that day
How everything seemed to move in a slow motion
as people walked up and down the streets
and cars drove by
But I remember that day
How silence gripped the town
with such a quietnes
I know people were talking
but I couldn't hear a thing
but I remember that day
How clouds were robed in white
like wings of angels
with a sheet covering the sky
letting the world know
a king was passing through
But I remember that day
As though it was yesterday
That is a day I will never forget
The day when Dr. King was assassinated
