I sat up on that Cold Mountain looking down upon them
knowing that after all we'd gone through,
I was the one who had gotten away...
And they were the ones who would have to pay.
It wasn't my fault but neither was it their's
Just some mistake of power and suffering mistook
In the end, we would all die
And flutter away, bye-bye.
The Cold Mountain burned my flesh;
with agonizing grace my heart swelled,
cracking from the pain
And looking down upon them, all I could feel was the shame.
I saw what had been
and what may forever be
then turned my head to the West
And my gaze settled on the coming sea.
The horizon uplifted me and felt my pain
swirling with the colors of silver and blue
I had escaped, I was free
And hopefully would forever be.
But at what cost?
was I supposed to feel hope?
am I supposed to accept the death of my family?
And in that instant I knew.
Hitler would Pay
