The  Perfect Moment

Calm, quiet, the air is cool and soothing.

Rearing back, to see the stars, he noticed never moving.

Reclined across the hood and windshield,

The wavy, brown hair on his chest ceased to yield

To the unmoving moment.

The girl peers through windows to his soul

With shiny eyes once drab and dull,

That now reflect that heavenly ocean,

The one that seems to lack all motion;

They share a necessary connection.

On the way home, the diamonds began to fall.

Their descent: toward the skyline from their realm once tall.

The perfect moment has passed,

But they knew it couldn’t last.

At least they’ll always have the stars.
