To day is an evil day
And I'm commanded to stand
Not to cower with fear
Or bury my head in sand.
As I await the onslaught
Of Satan's demon host,
I'm as an apple in God's eye
And He has loved me most.
More than my friends and children do
More than my parents and spouse.
And I must also do the same
To love Him more than house.
I pick up now His armor
With loins girt about with truth
And righteousness a breastplate
And peace shod upon each foot
With left hand taking shield of faith
To quench those firery darts
His righteousness protects my chest
Wherein here lies my heart.
I place His helmet on my head
To protect my thoughts and mind
For it tends to cause me sorrow
Bringing sadness all the time.
With right hand wield I sword
Two sharp edges it is made
And called the Word of God
To fight the demon raid
Praying with all prayer
Supplication takes me there
To His throne of grace I boldly come
With all my armor on
There is a battle in and out
And I must be prepared
To fight the good fight of faith
Till He brings me safely there.
