Summary

This poem comes from a story that a little girl once told me. Written from the perspective of a child praying to God. To me it is an emotional piece, but also inspiring. Inspiring because we could all learn something from the faith of this child.

Under the warmth of her blankets, she prays...
Oh, Lord I am not worthy, but I must ask this today
Please send me a someone to love only me
Someone who will love who I am, and not who they want me to be
I am so alone, I feel so ashamed
Why am I here, if I only cause pain
I know if I had someone who was mine alone
I could change what is wrong, and make myself whole
Someone who could see the light shining deep in my soul
To uncover my meaning in this life that I hold
I didn't ask to be here
I know there must be a reason for me

I've tried to be brave and face this alone
But all that I've done is hurt those that I love
I really don't try to, but they show me it's true
When I try to make things right, the say there is nothing I can do
Yet deep in my heart, I know I am not a mistake
For there must have been love, when it was theirs to make
They say you give each person the burden they are able to bare
But Lord, I'm just a child
I'm tired and scared
So please help me, and answer my prayer...
Send me my someone
My someone, who will always be there.
