"Oh, the trams can take you everywhere!"

Do they?  I wonder.
Looking at dirty metal floors
or
avoiding vomit
at 3 AM.

Swaying and pressing myself
against the bodies
of strangers.

Sweating under heavy coats
breathing
through my mouth.

How long will this trip last?

Concrete, communist blocks
give way
to the most beautiful city
I have ever seen.

Despite the ashes that float
around and above
the castle, the bridge, the river.

The trams do not take you
"everywhere"
but
they do take you
the only place
worth going to.
