I wasn’t planning on this. Falling in love with you was the last thing I wanted. Because I know our time would have to come to end. Yet, here I am, begging you not to turn the page.

“I wasn’t planning on this. Falling in love with you was the last thing I wanted, because I knew our time would have to come to end. Yet, here I am, begging you not to turn the page.” I whispered as he sat on the edge of the dock.

It's midnight, just like the first time I'd met him. I remember it all so clearly. We were standing on this exact dock, talking about our past, and as the clock struck twelve our lips hit, his hands in my hair...

"Suzonne, please?" he asked, bringing me back to reality.

"I don't want you to go, Max."

"I have no choice."

I sat down next to him, feeling a tear fall across my cheek. He wiped it away with his thumb.

"Life isn't always fair, Suzonne. Please don't cry, I hate when you cry."

"I can't help it. Without you what will I do?" I asked, standing up and starting to walk away.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me to him. I kissed him, putting one hand behind his head. I could feel his heart beating against my chest, our pulses and breathing synchronizing. His tongue entered my mouth as he pressed me up against a tree. I bit his lower lip, feeling him wince against the sharp pain. I stopped, looking into his eyes.

"Max, I'm giving you two options. One, you can go back to her, or two, you can stay here with me. I'm going to walk away now, and if you don't follow, then I'll know you love her and never loved me."

I turned around, heading down the path towards my house. I wasn't going to let myself look back out of fear that I'd run back to him. About halfway down the path, I stopped and looked over my shoulder.

He wasn't there, and I could hear a boat heading towards the sun... back to her.
