When we were us, not just you and I.

We sat in the yard

Hand in hand

Body against body

You told me your dreams

Your fears

Your plans

You saw my scars

And slid my sleeve down over them

"Why don't you like seeing them?"

I ask him, looking in his eyes

"Because I couldn't stop them"

You tell me in a voice thick with tears

I kissed you

You kissed me

----

You sit with her now

I sit alone

You love her now

I love no one

And now "us"

Is just "you and I"
