And The City Watched

As I entered the hotel room, on the 50th floor, the expansive wall of windows gave way to the city skyline below me. Mesmerized by the sky scrapers, green spaces and old historic structures, I felt a sense of invinsibility. My companion put our suitcases down and joined me at the window, seemingly caught up in the beauty of the scene as well. We did not speak for some time when he suddenly turned to face me asked "why have we come here"? I smiled confidently and reminded him of the conference we were to attend, all expenses paid by the University.

Three months earlier when I  met him, I did not know who he was or the pivotal role he would come to play in my life, both personally and as a young, impressionable student looking to succeed at all costs.  When I discovered the complexity our relationship would take on, my desire for him only increased. I looked to him as my mentor and intended to learn as much as I  could from his vast experience. Now, here we were, alone in a big city, away from the peering eyes of campus, to carve out what we would mark the beginning of our lengthy and passionate affair.

He silently took my hand in his and tenderly kissed my finger tips, one by one. The smell of whiskey and cologne wafted around my nose as my breathing quickened with each light touch. He brought me to the bed and I lay down, awaiting his arrival. He undressed me slowly; with intention, and the city watched.
