I was walking to school with Jenna and Heather one Friday. Despite my panic earlier that morning, I was happy and cheerful around my friends. My mom and dad have been out of town, and they were supposed to be back home last night. This morning, I woke up to an empty house. I had been staying with Jenna and her parents, last night I stayed at my house, since they were supposed to be arriving shortly. I hadn't told anyone. I guess, at the time, I just didn't want to admit to anything bad happening. That changed quicker than I thought.

School was long and stressful. We were so happy to be out at the end of the day. Jenna and Heather rode with Heather's brother, Ryan. I waved to them as they drove off to their house. The walk home wasn't long, but really exhausting. There were many hills and turns on the way home. After a while of treading the hills and hot concrete streets, I slipped into a shortcut in the shaded, even leveled woods. The woods were beautiful and quiet. But not for long.

Soon I heard screaming. Arguing. It was Tyler Chansed and his girlfriend Amber. They were juniors, a year ahead of me. But everyone knew that Tyler was really agressive. He yelled until she jumped in her car and drove off. I backed away slowly so he wouldnt hear me. I stepped quietly a few feet back. A tiny squirrel jumped from the bush next to me, and I screamed in suprise. I saw Tyler glance over and spot me. I ran for my life. Sprinting over fallen trees, ducking the standing ones, and flinging anything my hands could find behind me.

I didn't turn to see how close he was. I didn't scream incase he had lost me, I didn't want to draw attention to myself. I ran at lightning speed, quietly and hopefully. Soon I concluded I could stop running. I spun around so fast that my head felt like it had fallen off. Tyler was no where in sight. I fell onto my back, into a pile of leaves. My thoughts were calm now. And I began wondering idly.

What would Heather say if she knew I had just ran faster than any olympic runner could ever dream? What would Jenna say if she had known that I had been so intune with my instincts, I could have fought a bear blind-folded? What would my mom and dad say if they knew I... Mom and dad.. I suddenly became worried again. I remembered that they were gone. And I wanted to believe that they were home, waiting for me. I looked around me. I hadn't gotten lost, lucky me. I had gone mostly next to the path the whole time.

I walked down the path for about five minutes, then I walked down my street to my house. I saw a rental car in my driveway. My parents!! I was so happy I dropped my bookbag and purse by the car and ran into the house. All the lights were off, I expected they were sleeping after a long flight. I walked silently to my room and shut the door. I layed down on my bed, deciding I needed a nap as well. After a few minutes, I heard my door open. I didn't move a bit. Completely content and happy my parents were safe and home.

I felt my father's hand brush away the hair from my face. His hand were smoother than usual. Soft and young. I sighed and spoke to my silent dad.

"I missed you guys.. Why weren't you heard last night..?" I asked sleepily.

"Shh... Sleep..." I heard before I practically passed out.

I was moving. Very slightly, but too much for waking up in my comfy bed. I rolled over, suprised that my warm cotten sheets were cold. And hard, like leather. I opened my eyes to find I was in the back of a car. My bookbag and purse were supporting my head, like a pillow, and an un-familiar jacket was spread across my legs, like a blanket. I was confused, and partly scared. I sat up to see a young man behind the wheel. I screamed so loud that he had to turn around and hold his index finger to his lips.

"Shh... Sleep..." he said in a familiar voice.

As I came to the realization that this man had been in my room, he turned around and smirked.
