I stand there, ready for anything.
Clearing my mind of everything.
I know what to do and how I do it.
Pull, pull, kick, kick, breathe, repeat.
I remember not to look at anyone and stay focused.
I hear people arousing all around.
I see the bottom of the pool and I can't smell anything.
I feel my body gliding somewhat through the chlorine infested waters.
Flip turns take most of the energy.
Don't breathe before it.
Don't get too close the wall.
Pull, flip, push, streamline, kick like hell.
I may not win in the pool.
And I may not win on the board.
But I feel like I won if my time descends.
And I count that as a win in my heart.
