The dragonfly

A dragonfly flew past me big on great flapping wings

It was chasing after other flying things

Then it caught a wasp

And held it in its grasp

The dragonfly settled on a vertical straw

I bent closer and this is what I saw

It ate the wasp except for the head

I guess then it was well fed

Did the dragonfly think of me

As I bent down to better see

Did I matter at all to the dragonfly

As it let go of the straw and flew me bye

When I’m ignored by a dragonfly passing me bye

Why should you stop and say, Hi

This I how it will be

You’ll never notice me

I could as well be like that insect

I’m one of the girls you never detect

Cause in this school

I’m plain and you’re too cool
