"Illusions of Parenting"

Illusions of parenting are handed down...

by deception past on to sons and daughters....

Some illusions are excepted when others are not...

our fore-fathers created this slaughter...

It's real parents who try to change for the good...

because our children are counting on this, it's a must...

To set the example for which parenting stands...

do we look at our children with contempt or discussed...

We should think of the five senses we're given at birth...

sight, hearing, smell, taste and the feeling of touch...

Then look at our children, could we deny them one...

or tell them as a person they're not worthy of such...

Take sense number one, the sight,, of our eyes...

parents fighting and doing some drugs, what's so pleasing...

Does parenting care what the child is reading...

seeing at shows, watching on T.V., realities quite deceiving...

Take sense number two, the hearing, with our ears...

gun shots, crying and screams in the night...

Does parenting care what the child is hearing...

to be seen and not heard, in their bedrooms with fright...

Take sense number three, to smell, with our nose...

is it flames from the fires and smoke that's their perfume...

Does parenting care if the neighborhood goes...

to turn up their nose at surroundings, that life will consume...

Take sense number four, to talk and taste, with our tongue...

to swallow our words with this sense we empower...

Does parenting care life's left a bad taste in our mouth...

should our mouths be closed, leave children to be devoured...

Take sense number five, to touch, with our hands...

is it punches and slaps or just a clenched fist...

Does parenting care if their child's heart has been broken...

when hugs are not there, is this fate with it's twist...

To see, to hear, to smell, to taste, to touch...

do we take our senses for granted or use them all well...

Does parenting care, is this world all their crutch...

should we help parenting too, just sit uneasy to dwell...

To see with our eyes the love that should grow...

to hear laughter and sounds that are pleasing...

to smell fragrance and truths in all our tomorrows...

to taste sweet success that we're a family once more...

to touch our deepest of feelings to express it with love...

Have our senses just left us, or is parenting just an ILLUSION...
