my heart lay naked in the dirt
blood blossomed across my shirt.

you stare hard at my eyes
I stand drowning in your lies.

your pale face begins to fade
twisting and turning, all within the shade

I fall to the earth, the final twitch
you throw the dagger down in the ditch

smiling once, then turning away
you leave me now for a brand new day

I died on that road, dusty and choking
how I think back and wished god was joking

but you left me there on the side of that road.
my heart in pieces.
