plucking HSC

darkness coming closer as the rain drops
starry eyes falling as darkness collides,
niceties pushed aside.

hurt and pain, joined arm in arm.
eyes burning, tears dry.
brain dead, sitting amongst corpses,
dead rotting corpses.

why? do we sit day in day out, clustered
together arms reaching for the pile of dog
eared, writing faded books.

one day as the alarm goes off, the form
huddled under the covers will not give in
and crawl out from under the safety of the
covers, but will remain, dead eyes staring
from behind blue black rings, at the ticking
of the ghastly clock.
