a short poem about optimism

Today

Scourge this hen house, this bottomless pit
Yesterdays are banished

Romeo sits with his love, in perfect harmony

Today is what could have, what should have been

Old age’s wisdom outwits the Chiron
Youth is like an untameable stallion
Sturdy, and full of fervour,

Socrates sits in his den.

Like shapeless shadows bend
Fear and Strength morph and become one
As thee undying love does not end

The chicks chirp and their mothers squawk
But do not lend thy ears.
The Phoenix rises and sees yet glory again

Today is what could have, what should have been.
