We marched to the top of that old dirt road,
Bombs dropping all around, so we didn't have time to reload,
It was a constant battle, one that'd never end,
I'm sorry to say, I lost a lot of friends.
We faced struggles in the following day,
We just couldn't give up, it just wasn't our way,
So we continued to battle on into the night,
Hoping that by daybreak, that would be the end of the fight,
But morning was here, and there was no sign of defeat,
So we continued on, we just couldn't be beat.
The morning dew seemed to calm our distress,
Giving us courage, to not give up yet,
As we continued on into battle, we saw the fear in their eyes,
This is when the battle, turned to our side,
The enemy was running, we had accomplished this task,
War is no story, its a part of our past.
